Group Tutoring

Tutoring is $25 per hour for one student, $40 per hour for two students, or $50 per hour for three students. For more information on tutoring groups, click here. For new students, the first hour is always free. This way, there is no risk to you in setting up an initial tutoring session. If you're unhappy with the service in any way the first time, you don't have to pay. After your first hour, you won't get another free hour, even if a long time has elapsed between sessions.

How it Works

The easiest way to schedule tutoring sessions is to have them on the same day and time each week. This way, a time that works for you is permanently reserved. However, if your availability changes each week, I will work with you to schedule convenient sessions week by week. Just understand that this will make it more difficult to schedule convenient sessions if your schedule is busy.

During your first tutoring session, we'll go over your goals and restrictions to come up with a tutoring plan. I can do one or two sessions per week, each session one or two hours long. We'll also start the actual tutoring during the first session so you can get an idea of my teaching style and I can gauge where you stand in the subject. I encourage my students to take an active role in the teaching process. If you want to make changes to how I teach you the material or the structure of the tutoring sessions, please feel free to discuss it with me.

Payment Options

I accept payment in cash, check, paypal, or card, and you may choose your payment schedule. You may pay in advance, at the end of each session, or per month.

Sessions are held at my home. I live in a subdivision in Lexington, KY off of Leestown road. I do have two very friendly cats. They can be locked up during sessions, but anyone with a cat allergy should alert me ahead of time so we can work out another location.

Cancellation Policy

If you must cancel a tutoring session, I ask that you give me 24 hours' notice. My schedule is a little flexible, only being a part-time student, and I'm happy to re-schedule tutoring sessions when necessary. That said, if you give me less than 12 hours' notice, you will still be required to pay for your scheduled session.

I do not tutor groups with more than three students. The biggest benefit of tutoring is that the student gets the teacher's full attention. I can take the time to follow the student's thought process and give assistance tailored to their needs. With more than three students in a group, that benefit is diminished, especially when the students are weak in different areas.

In addition, students in groups of two or three must be working on the same subject. Trying to tutor one student in math and another in reading at the same time diminishes the quality for both students.

If you are looking for someone to teach a larger group of students, please contact me with details and I will consider it on a case-by-case basis.

Please note that pricing changes dependent on the number of students. Details are under Pricing.
